Summer 2016 promises to be hot – numerous crazy music festivals are must-go for everyone who loves good music. I advise you to approach selection very carefully and choose the most interesting option. We have selected for you only the best summer festivals, which are worth a visit!
PINKPOP
Pinkpop Festival is considered the main rock event in the Netherlands it takes place in the picturesque Dutch Landgraf for almost half a century.It is the oldest annual festival in the world. Today, Pinkpop is a 3-day event, which is held from Friday to Sunday, has three separate stages and is visited by about 60 000 people per day. After 35 years, 1.5 million people visited the Pinkpop.
More than 500 musical artists have played at the festival. This year’s fest is ideal for a company of students who have come overseas in search of new experiences. I can assure you that the Pinkpop won’t leave you indifferent.
This year, event will be held from 10th to 12th of June. The main star of the festival will be Paul McCartney; details of the ex-Beatle program is a secret, however, there are no doubts that the show will be memorable and outstanding. Other headliners are Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rammstein. In addition, bands like Bastille, Bring Me the Horizon, Nothing but Thieves, Tom Odell and others will be present.
OPEN'ER FESTIVAL
Polish Open'er, which will take place from June 29th until July 2nd, is much less costly. The line-up will not disappoint lovers of art, the event is taking place at the former airfield near the city of Gdynia and visitors will enjoy performing from Florence & the Machine, psychedelic rock Australians Tame Impala, the ubiquitous Red Hot Chili Peppers, the British Bastille and the French M83.VOLT FESTIVAL
Volt is taking place in the city of Sopron from 29th of June until 2nd of July, which is almost on the Austrian border, and it precedes the main Hungarian festival - Sziget. Although the Volt is not as famous as Sziget, but in terms of popularity it already starts catching up with its colleague from the capital. Mostly because it has potential. Varieties of musical genres are represented on the festival venues.This year, here comes the "heavy artillery" consisted of Iron Maiden, The Prodigy, Slayer, Wiz Khalifa and others. As a bonus for visitors - a beautiful river and the lake, next to which you can relax while listening to the membrane-tearing guitar riffs.
SZIGET FESTIVAL
The Sziget perhaps is one of the most cost options for European festivals. This event was first held on the island of Obuda in 1993; now about 400 thousand music lovers from 90 countries annually visit the Sziget, and line-up has become a much larger scale. This year's program will start on 10th of August and go for a week until 17th; music lovers will see famous artists including Rihanna, Muse, Sum 41, David Guetta, The Last Shadow Puppets, Sia and others.The organizers promise to update program, so even more surprises are yet to come. In addition to concerts, event also offers various activities. Visitors can have fun watching a movie or theatrical performances, other options will give you possibility to make a tattoo, play volleyball, tennis or football. Since the island is located directly in the Budapest, travelers can to go into the city at any time and enjoy the sights of the Hungarian capital.
ROCK EN SEINE
Art lovers of all exquisite, with no doubt, have to take tickets to Paris for 26-28 of August. The park of the castle of Saint-Cloud, which is 10 kilometers west of the French capital, is going to hold a three-day marathon of Rock en Seine.For three days, about 60 concerts will be held at four stages. Children will have opportunity to take part in a separate program Mini Rock en Seine, which includes educational games and workshops dedicated to music
However, you will not regret it because the choice of headliners this year is more than decent: Two Door Cinema Club, The Last Shadow Puppets, Massive Attack, Sigur Ros, and, for dessert, the organizers have reserved the guru of alternative rock Iggy Pop, Canadian punks Sum 41 and British indie-rockers Foals.
